As COVID-19 restrictions lift in England, Carex has high-fived its way into the record book after setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most high and low fives on a sky dive, to help demonstrate the vital role carrying hand sanitser on-the-go plays to get consumers out and about as safely as possible

To mark lockdown restrictions lifting in England, and as pat of a summer-long awareness push, Carex has been awarded a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the ‘Most high and low fives by a pair in a single sky dive’. The brand has pulled off the feat to help show the importance of carrying protection on the go, to safely bring people back together.

The attempt was achieved by expert sky divers, Emily Aucutt and Josh Carratt, in a bid to help shoppers feel confident about getting back together safely by carrying sanitiser on the go, wherever they are and however they travel, by car, train, plane or even parachute.

The expert diving pair, had to achieve a minimum of 30 high and low fives during a sky diving freefall to be awarded the record. They achieved an astonishing 32 high and lows fives within the 63.3 second freefall – of course fully sanitised by Carex.

As the UK’s No.1 Hand Wash and Hand Sanitiser Brand[1], Carex played a key role in keeping consumers safe throughout the pandemic with unit sales reaching 76.8m (+5.7% YoY)[2]. That’s around 21m litres – enough to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool more than eight times over.

Sameen Kenway, Carex Senior Brand Manager comments: ’This record attempt kicks off a summer-long communications programme as we aim to raise awareness of the importance of carrying hand sanitiser with consumers, particularly as restrictions lift.

As shoppers return to being out and about more, we are encouraging people to continue to hand sanitise as part of their daily routine and urging retailers to make this possible. Our research highlights that 80% of people in England feel more confident whilst out and about if carrying hand gel, therefore it is vital that retailers maintain good availability, enabling shoppers to easily pick up a bottle on the go.

‘Throughout the pandemic, our retail partners have been integral to helping us keep the nation protected by ensuring they have product on-shelf. As we move into this new phase, we call on them once again to help keep hygiene top of minds with their customers.’

Carex is driving further awareness throughout the summer with dedicated through the line activation, including PR, digital, OOH advertising and sampling.
