America’s No. 1 Organic wine producer steps up its retail presence with four new listings

Bonterra, which is the leading producer of organic wine in the USA, is pleased to announce new listings for its wines in major UK retail.

Bonterra Organic Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the California wine brand’s best-selling pair of wines internationally, have just launched in Tesco stores nationwide and online at Tesco.com, at £12 RRP. The launch has coincided with Organic September.

These will be followed in November by Bonterra Estate Collection Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, a brand-new tier making its global debut in the UK, which will launch in branches of Waitrose and online at an expected RRP of £15.

UK Export manager and Director of Marketing, Rachel Newman, says

“The UK is an important market for Bonterra, and the sustained growth of the organic category here is perfectly aligned with our ambition to grow awareness of the quality and accessibility of organic wines. Now more than ever, shoppers are paying close attention to the provenance of their food and drink choices. We view our regenerative, organic farming practices as imperative in the pressing challenge to slow climate change. Our expansion with multiple offerings for leading UK retailers, as well as our on trade and independent customers, brings our passion for organic wine to an ever wider audience.”

Since January 2020, organic sales in UK supermarkets have seen the highest growth since December 2016, according to a Soil Association article referencing Nielsen data*. Data shows organic food & drink sales year on year growth of 6.1% – almost double the growth of non-organic food and drink products (3.2%) for the 52 weeks ending 30 May 2020.

Bonterra has been a pioneer for organic grape growing since its inception in 1987 under founding winemaker Bob Blue. Today Chief winemaker Jeff Cichocki and Director of Vineyards Joseph Brinkley head the team at the estate.

Bonterra recently launched their latest environmentally-focused advertising campaign, “Tastes like saving the planet”, in the US for Organic September.
