• 8x50cl PACK WITH BOTTLES MADE FROM 100% rPET –
  • As it moves towards 100% recycled plastic for the entire range by end 2021

BUXTON® the No.1 British Natural Mineral Water brand[2], has today released a greener multipack as it continues its move towards more sustainable packaging.

Launching exclusively in Tesco, the 8 x 50cl pack contains 100% recycled plastic (or rPET) bottles encased in film made from 50% recycled PE plastic. The bottles themselves are made from other bottles and contain 15% less plastic than the leading branded competitors[3].

At the forefront of the sustainability agenda in the UK, BUXTON® has already moved 45% of its volumes into 100% rPET bottles and this launch represents another step towards its goal of using 100% rPET bottles across all SKUs by the end of 2021 – ahead of mainstream competitor bottled water brands.

Over the past few years, BUXTON® has worked closely and resiliently with industry partners, non-governmental organisations and Government to help improve the national recycling rate, supporting UK deposit return schemes and engaging with consumers about their recycling. In particular, in its partnership with Biffa, to make every BUXTON® bottle from 100% recycled PET by collecting and reprocessing PET bottles here in the UK, the brand will significantly reduce the amount of virgin plastic in circulation and help accelerate the circular economy for plastic in the UK.

Rising up to the challenge, BUXTON®’s ultimate ambition is to become Carbon Neutral in 2023, whilst parent company Nestlé Waters pledges to follow by 2025. But with water at its core, water stewardship and managing water resources responsibly is also high on the agenda. Working with the local community, BUXTON® has initiated pioneering water projects designed to care for water, improve water efficiency, as well as protect the water balance in the local area. Last month, the home of BUXTON® water became the first site in the UK to achieve the prestigious Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard certification with platinum status, the highest rating possible[4].

Warren Plaskett, Head of Marketing for Nestlé Waters UK, said: “BUXTON® has been Rising Up and overcoming obstacles for thousands of years, and this greener pack launch with TESCO is one more step on our journey toward the ambition of making every BUXTON® bottle from recycled bottles by the end of the year – an ambition we are proud of and determined to meet.”
