TENZING today launches its latest innovation: Apple & Seaberry. The fastest growing energy drink in the market has used its latest blend to source local and support local, by championing British ingredients including Cornish seaberries, Cornish Sea Salt and British apples and partnering with conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage.

Huib van Bockel, TENZING founder, said: “We’re passionate about sourcing local and supporting local. We only source nature’s most powerful ingredients, and we don’t have to look very far when we’ve got ingredients like Cornish seaberries on our doorstep. And what’s better, every can sold will have a direct, positive impact on our Cornish partners with proceeds going to Surfers Against Sewage.”

One percent of all sales from this Apple & Seaberry SKU will be donated to Cornish charity Surfers Against Sewage, a Cornwall-based charity dedicated to the protection of oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife. TENZING, a B-Corp certified business, has a parallel mission – to take action to protect Earth’s natural playgrounds in everything it does, be that mountains, oceans or simply fresh air.

But what is a seaberry? Bright orange in colour, these berries are full of flavour – think mango, passion fruit and lemon wrapped into one taste explosion – and rich in antioxidants and vitamin C.

TENZING has partnered with Cornish Seaberry Co to source this superberry. Farmer Seth Pascoe, discovered seaberries when suffering from altitude sickness on a trek to Everest Basecamp – a similar tale of discovery to TENZING founder Huib van Bockel who was originally inspired by a Himalayan Sherpa recipe whilst also travelling in Nepal.

When Seth returned from his travels to his home on the Cornish coast, he discovered the same berries growing on a coastal path – these powerful Nepalese were also growing in Cornwall.

Seth Pascoe, Cornish Seaberry founder, said: “Cornwall is renowned as being a foodie destination and it’s a big part of the Cornish identity. I’ve lived in Cornwall all my life and I feel proud of the entrepreneurial spirit that abounds in Cornwall.

“It’s fantastic to see TENZING doing the right thing by sourcing ingredients from local producers such as myself. It bolsters the local economy and as TENZING is available nationwide it helps businesses like ours reach a much larger audience.”

The 330ml can (RRP £2.00) will launch into Co-op stores nationwide in December.

Steve Caddell, Co-op Buyer, “As a convenience retailer, we’re always looking for ways to grow our drinks offering and welcome this new listing from TENZING.”
