- Latest findings from consumer group Which? show that Aldi is officially the UK’s cheapest supermarket for April
- A shop at Aldi is over £31 cheaper than Waitrose
- Aldi has invested over £125m in price cuts this year, to ensure it continues to be the nation’s cheapest supermarket
It’s official, the only place to get the lowest prices for your weekly shop is at Aldi! The discount supermarket has once again been named as the UK’s cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which? – making Aldi undefeated so far this year.
Despite claims from the traditional supermarkets to price match Aldi on a limited number of products, Aldi shoppers can be confident they’re getting the highest quality food at unbeatable prices.
Consumer group Which? conducted its monthly Cheapest Supermarket price comparison, looking at the cost of groceries and household essentials. The latest research shows that throughout April, Aldi was a huge £31.23 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose – for an equivalent list of shopping items.
Which? also revealed Aldi to be £14.08 cheaper than Asda and £18.12 cheaper than Sainsbury’s.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We are as committed as ever to maintaining our position as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, while still offering outstanding quality products to our customers. Last month we announced that we’d invested £125m in price cuts so far in 2024, further demonstrating that we’ll continue to do whatever it takes to keep grocery prices as low as possible for the millions of customers that shop with us.”
Most recently, Aldi has announced it will be slashing the price of its viral Chassaux Et Fils Atlantique Rosé, 75cl to under a fiver just in time for the bank holiday.
The supermarket is also dropping the price of Pierre Jaurant French Merlot, Freeman’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc and Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC to under £5.
Aldi’s May Bank Holiday wine promotions are available from 29th April until 5th May – while stocks last.
