GT – What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
Every day is different at Danone. For me, excitement comes from knowing we are making a difference. We have a purpose to deliver health through foods, and through our innovations and scientific know-how we’re doing exactly that.
GT – Who’s inspired you most in your career?
Probably my bosses in my first job, who mentored me in those crucial early years of my career and taught me how to get the best out of people, and out of myself.
GT – If you were an item in a supermarket, what would you be?
Good question; perhaps Graze snacks. Aside from being healthy and convenient, they are popular and in-line with current trends.
GT – If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?
I’d definitely re-take my A Levels. Life was distracting, but finishing with lower grades than I should have made my first few years in work really tough. I had to work harder to prove myself.
GT – What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
I once sang Michael Jackson’s ‘I Want You Back’ to 800 people at a sales conference. But the less said about that the better!
GT – Who or what makes you laugh?
I love people who have cutting sarcasm; Alan Carr and Dara O’Brien are two of my favourite comedians.
GT – Do you have any hidden talents?
Odd as it sounds; I’m great at towel origami! I can make a chicken out of a hand towel and an alligator out of bath sheets.
GT – Who would be your favourite party guest?
I’m going to say Ant and Dec. They’d have some good stories to tell without any political agenda – and I bet they like a drink!
GT – What is the greatest luxury in your life?
Family time is really important to me and some of my best memories are from overseas holidays with my family.
GT – What is your favourite guilty pleasure?
I’m a huge chocaholic!
GT – Do you have any secret ambitions?
It would be fun to be one of those Disney characters at the theme parks. You could get up to all sorts of mischief in those costumes.
GT – What’s your dream holiday destination?
The Galapagos Islands; a tropical, unspoilt land with plenty of wildlife. Book me my ticket now!
GT – What are your three favourite movies of all time?
Shawshank Redemption, Toy Story 3 and Big. As you can see, I’m not chained to one genre!
GT – What is your favourite book of all time?
‘The Tiger that Came to Tea’ is the book I read to my kids, but then Ken Blanchard’s ‘Gungho’ is great for learning about team leadership.
GT – What’s your favourite pastime?
Going on a relaxing walk with my dog, Deefer.
GT – If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
I’d buy a few luxuries of course, but would really like to invest in my own food or hospitality business.
GT – What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into this industry?
Just be true to yourself. Select a job role or specialism you can get energy from, and a company that offers the right culture for you. Work is more exciting and rewarding when you do.
