Kiln Dried Logs burn hotter and more efficiently than seasoned logs.
They contain less moisture therefore less energy is used to burn off residual moisture leaving more energy available to be converted into heat. The higher temperatures result in everything being burnt, even the gasses released by the wood. In a cooler fire these would simply escape up the chimney. They are also more economical as they burn hotter and more efficiently, you use less of them to achieve the same heat output. The higher temperatures also keeps the inside of your appliance clean and free from sap build up, helping to prolong your appliance’s life. This is very important as the majority will only warrantee their appliance if only kiln dried logs are used.
CO2 Neutral Fuels
Burning FSC logs or other wood products is said to be a carbon neutral process. Homefire Kiln Dried Logs are sourced from British FSC accredited woodlands meaning that they come from a sustainable, well managed forest, which adheres to the high standards of the Forestry Stewardship Council. When you buy Homefire Kiln Dried Logs a new tree is planted to replace each tree burnt. The same amount of CO2 emitted when burnt will be absorbed by the new tree as it grows, so the net release of CO2 into the atmosphere will be zero.
