As fans around the world enjoyed Monty Python Live (mostly) from the O2 in London on Sunday 20 July, which was broadcast to 570 cinemas in the UK and 2,000 worldwide, those who attended the screening at Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne were treated to a special Pythonesque surprise: free SPAM® Popcorn.
As Monty Python says “and now for something completely different”. That’s exactly what this iconic meat brought to the audience, when fans sang along with the famous Spam Song, wore theirknotted handkerchiefs and enjoyed the hilarity of the Pythons’ unique humour in The Last Night of the Pythons.
Just before the final weepy, hilarious and uproarious performance by the five surviving Pythons live from London, characters such as Sir Lancelot and the Viking handed out specially designed popcorn cartons, filled with tastySPAM® Popcorn – a mix of crunchy popcorn and 90% shoulder pork and leg ham – to Newcastle cinema-goers that they enjoyed during the performance.

To help make it an evening our audience would never forget, and in the spirit of the Pythons’ famous Spam Song, everyone who attended received a free box of SPAM® Popcorn, in a special limited edition carton – Vikings were not included.”
