Rowers make a splash for GroceryAid

The Windermere Row, sponsored by Mars Wrigley Confectionery, took place from the 12-13 May, raising more than £65,000 for GroceryAid. This total is enough to provide 216 respite breaks for those with Caring Responsibilities in the household.

Baked in sunshine, rowers set out on the stunning Lake Windermere, all returning having completed the challenging 11 mile course. Following the row 180 people including families and friends celebrated at an evening party where the day’s awards were presented. Support came from many companies and individuals across the grocery industry helping to generate a fantastic atmosphere throughout.

Ash Amirahmadi, Senior Vice President Sales at Arla Foods commented that he felt “blessed to work in an industry in which it’s possible to participate in an event where top talent from our industry can engage in a competitive environment and raise money for a worthy cause.” Ash added that “The Windermere Row is a must attend for the industry with the event more than a row and the only one welcoming families, humanising our industry and helping to foster strong relationships.”

Next year’s Windermere Row will take place on Saturday 11th May 2019. Contact GroceryAid on events@groceryaid.org.uk or call 01252 875925 to find out more.
