Barratt Favourites, the sustainable confectionery sharing tub filled with some of the nation’s favourite sweets, has been recognised as one of the UK’s most innovative new products by Product of the Year 2023.
The product is made from 85 per cent less plastic than previous Barratt tubs and is suitable for household recycling. This includes its translucent plastic lid, which itself has been manufactured using 30 per cent recycled plastic.
The new 500g Barratt Favourites tub was launched in September of last year, securing listings with major retailers B&M, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. It proved to be a hit with consumers looking for an environmentally-friendly confectionery product perfectly suited for key sharing occasions, such as Halloween during which time a significant number of Favourites Tubs were sold.
The tub itself contains a mix of some of Britain’s best loved sweet including Dip Dabs, Wham, Fruit Salad & Black Jack chews, Highland Toffee, Refreshers rolls, Shrimps & Bananas and Fruit Salad lollies.
Russell Tanner, marketing director at Valeo Snackfoods which owns the Barratt brand, said:
“It’s brilliant to see Barratt Favourites recognised by Product of the Year – it’s an award that really means a lot to us as it’s voted for by thousands of consumers across the UK.
“The sustainability of our products and operations is a key part of our business strategy and we know that it’s very important to our consumers as well. That’s why we invested in creating an innovative new eco-friendly format for Barratt Favourites tub and it’s really pleasing to see these efforts recognised with such a high-profile accolade.”
As the biggest and most comprehensive study of product innovation in the UK, which is now in its 19th year, the Product of the Year Awards provides a unique platform to celebrate the products we use every day but often take for granted for their quiet innovation.
The research to inform the awards has been independently conducted in association with the world’s leading data and insights company, Kantar. Brands that are fortunate to ‘walk away’ with a coveted trophy also win the right to feature the iconic red Product of the Year logo – an instantly recognisable symbol of product excellence.
