- Ensure your little one gets enough sleep – it’s the body’s natural way of recharging its batteries. So, if your child starts to feel under the weather from congestion or a sniffly nose, help their body to recover by getting more sleep.
- Encourage them to not touch their face. The cold virus is often carried on the hands and then enters our body through our eyes, nose or mouth. So, minimise the risk of catching a cold by washing their hands regularly. To make getting rid of germs more fun, sing a song such as ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ whilst rubbing their hands together vigorously with lots of soap and warm water.
- Keep them active! Physical activity gives the immune system a boost, so try to encourage light activity such as walking the dog or going out for a bike ride, to help ease symptoms of congestion and sniffly noses.
