Its UK locality means retailers are able to order stock at short notice to replenish shelves, as and when the warmer weather hits, making it a go-to trader for convenience stores and multiples. Bar-Be-Quick holds around 2,000 tonnes of additional stock over and above its commitments, positioning itself as the primary supplier for the UK market. The company recently invested in changes to further reduce order lead-times in season, improving its ability to react to the demands of a warm summer, as experienced in 2013.

Standards are a priority for the Burnley-based company, which employs 70 people in its 350,000 sq ft warehouse. The Instant Barbecues are manufactured and warehoused in the UK, which, supports employment and ensures availability during the summer months. Bar-Be-Quick tests its products in raw material form on arrival, as well as periodically during production, post-production and randomly from stock. The business produces high-quality goods that offer end-users up to 1.5 hours cooking time and feed as many as ten people, based on the larger Party Size Instant Barbecue (£7 RRP).

The recognisable product has also had several high-profile partnerships with brands including Levi Roots, Fosters and Hellmann’s, and as a result, is well-known among UK-wide customers and retailers alike.

The packs have been updated for 2014 and now carry an animated image of Brits favourite barbecue foods, to appeal to busy shoppers and help retailers sell the product through. Bar-Be-Quick’s Standard Size (£3.99 RRP) and Party Size Instant Barbecues are easy to stack neatly in store so shops can simply position them either one on top of the other or back to back, making them the ideal impulse purchase for customers to pick up along with their other groceries, when the sun shines.

Caroline Hoare, national account manager for Bar-Be-Quick, said: “We’re extremely proud of the Bar-Be-Quick range and its heritage. Our Burnley based workforce fulfilled unprecedented demand for the Instant Barbecue during the 2013 heat wave, a product we hope is considered an essential component part of every British summer, almost three decades since we brought it to market.”

Bar-Be-Quick, which is owned by parent company Rectella International Ltd, developed instant barbecues to offer consumers the utmost in convenience, while also supporting retailers that want to cater for the entire alfresco dining needs of shoppers.

The brand holds environmentally friendly credentials close to its core and the instant barbecues are made from a recyclable aluminium tray and 100 per cent FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) charcoal.
