THE UK’s leading sausage roll brand Wall’s Pastry is giving consumers the chance to win a handful of money-can’t-buy experiences as part of its new on-pack promotion and exciting partnership with SportsAid.

The on-pack promotion is set to launch from the week commencing 14 June and runs through the summer until August, with 50p from every pack sold going towards SportsAid to help support the next generation of GB sports stars. The promotion will run across its Jumbo Sausage Roll, 4, 10 and 12 pack Snack Sausage Rolls, Vegan Jumbo Roll, its Chicken and Bacon, Peppered Steak, Chicken Tikka and Chicken and Mushroom slices, as well as its latest Beef Burrito, Chicken Fajita and Chicken Piri-Piri microwave slices.

For as little as 80p, consumers can be in with a chance to win a unique VIP experience at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for two, with activities such as a diving experience at the London Aquatic Centre with Olympic silver medallist Leon Taylor, a tour of the Olympic Stadium and VIP passes to the Six Day London cycling event – plus Olympian and Paralympian meet and greets.

Mike Holton, brand manager at Wall’s Pastry, said: “We are delighted to launch our latest on-pack promotion. Athletes have been incredibly resilient over the past 15 months and are finally starting to be able to train and compete, and this partnership will allow us to support 25 young athletes with much-needed and well-deserved funding.

“The promotion is also a great opportunity for us to provide an amazing and unique tour of the Olympic Park. The past year has also been unprecedented and difficult for many people and with the world starting to return to some form of normality, we can’t wait to provide our customers across the country with an incredibly exciting and well-deserved trip.”

SportsAid, which was founded in 1976, supports more than 1,000 young athletes – generally from ages 12 to 18 – every year by providing them with financial awards to cover training and competition costs. The charity helps the next generation of British sport stars at the start of their careers, as most of them rely on parents for funding due to having no other sources of income.

More than £50 million has been distributed by SportsAid over the last 45 years. The charity’s impressive track record was highlighted at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games where SportsAid alumni won 150 medals. This included 46 of Team GB’s 67 medals (20 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze) and 104 of Paralympics GB’s 147 medals (44 gold, 28 silver and 32 bronze).

Mike added: “SportsAid is the UK’s leading charity for young athletes and has done some fantastic work over the years to help them achieve their ambitions, so it was the perfect fit for our on-pack promotion. Dame Jessica Ennis Hill, Sir Mo Farah and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, to name a few, are a true testament to what a fantastic organisation SportsAid is and the support structure it provides.

“We’re looking forward to raising some much-needed and well-deserved funds for these athletes, as well as giving the nation the opportunity to win a variety of money-can’t-buy experiences – we wish everyone the best of luck and a fantastic summer of sport.”

Tim Lawler, SportsAid’s chief executive, said: “We’re really excited to be involved in the on-pack promotion with Wall’s Pastry. What a great way to kick off a return to sport and competition after the restrictions of the pandemic. SportsAid is part of the fabric of British sport – recognising and helping an emerging generation of talented young sports people to develop their potential and reach for their personal best. Through this promotion, Wall’s Pastry are creating the opportunity for anyone to play their part in helping the next generation and perhaps win some amazing experiences in the process. Watch out for the promotional packs and get involved!”

Steve Backley OBE, Olympic silver medallist and former javelin world record holder, said: “I’m really pleased to hear about the new partnership between Wall’s Pastry and SportsAid, and the on-pack promotion sounds like a fun way to help the cause. I was very fortunate to have received help from SportsAid when I was a young athlete. It allowed me to buy a warm-weather training camp, which was a very important part of my development, but more importantly, it gave me a huge amount of belief and I really hope people get involved to support SportsAid.”

The on-pack promotion will be available in selected Asda, Tesco and convenience stores across the UK, throughout June, July and August, and the prizes are redeemable by visiting: www.wallsnextgeneration.co.uk.
