As schools reopen this week, 5,926 children will be returning with the correct uniform and equipment after receiving a £150 School Essentials Grant from GroceryAid.
A total of £888,900 was granted to families in need this year, a 36% increase compared to last year’s School Essentials Grant. Eligible parents received £150 per school-aged child up to a maximum of three children per household.
Mandi Leonard, Welfare Director at GroceryAid said: “This year’s School Essentials Grant has been the largest fund awarded since it launched four years ago. We are delighted to be able to help so many more families at a time when they need it the most.”
Colleagues experiencing financial difficulties can still apply for a GroceryAid Cost of Living Grant, if they have been employed in the grocery industry for at least six months and meet eligibility criteria. For more information about our financial grants visit our website here.
