Doritos, the number one tortilla chip brand in the UK[2], and Burger King®, home of the Whopper®, are pulling a whopper out of the bag with the launch of a new NPD.

The iconic Whopper® is famous for the tasty, smoky flavours of flame-grilled beef, fresh tomatoes, onions and pickles. The new Doritos tortilla chips are a Whopper® of a flavour and taste deliciously close to the real deal1 – you can even taste the pickles! And despite the uncanny likeness to the Burger King® Flame Grilled Whopper®, the snacks – which are available nationwide from today – are even certified suitable for vegetarians.

The launch will be supported by an on-pack promotion, which will offer consumers a chance to get their hands on a free Whopper® meal when they buy a selected meal at Burger King®*. The promotion runs across Doritos Sharing formats (180g, 230g and 70g) and is open until the 30th October 2023.

“Our shoppers are continually looking for bolder flavours and taste experiences – and this is exactly what we are giving them. The new flavour adds excitement and innovation to the category, and we expect it will fly off the shelves – consumers simply won’t be able to resist.”

Katie Evans, marketing director at Burger King® UK continued: “We’ve been secretly working on Whopper® Doritos for the past year and we’re incredibly proud to unveil this epic collaboration – in snack form! We’ve loved developing the iconic Whopper® flavour, bringing flame-grilled beef, fresh tomatoes, onions and pickles that our customers know and love and delivering it on a Dorito’s tortilla chip. We’re excited for fans to try it, so they can now enjoy a Whopper® wherever and whenever they want.”

Flame-Grilled-Whopper® flavour Doritos will be available in supermarkets nationwide from mid-March in 180g sharing bag (£2.25 RRP) and 70g (£1.25 RRP) formats. In April and May, the new flavour will be supported by a wider multi-media campaign and an in-store shopper activation.
