Your investment journey in Canada starts with Immediate Core

Welcome to the October issue of The Grocery Trader. As autumn sets in, we have a crop of stories celebrating excellence in the industry and some appropriately seasonal features, Big Night In, Winter Remedies and Halloween.

chazIn the wake of the recent Speciality & Fine Food Fair, we look back at this year’s event and highlight the exhibitors, among them Arun Kapil, who started Green Saffron in County Cork in 2006, specialising in fresh and authentic spice blends. Green Saffron has since won numerous awards including Great Taste Awards and the Sial D’Or, and Arun recently signed an international book deal with Pavilion Books for launch in 2014. Stand by to hear much more about him!

Speaking of celebrities, our front cover headline story is about England cricketer Stuart Broad, the Ashes hero and Twenty20 team captain visiting a BP station in Feltham to spread the word about the importance of a healthy diet while on the go and celebrate the launch of Maxinutrition Protein Milk, Maxinutrition’s first low fat, high protein ready-to-drink snack to be available in local convenience stores and forecourts.

In our supporting headline story we report how ICS Cool Energy, the retail refrigeration specialists, carried out one of the most captivating assignments in their 25-year history for Travis, the twice BRIT award-winning Scottish band, when they cooled a film set at Shepperton to sub-zero temperatures to create stunning effects for the video for the band’s new single “Moving.” The producers needed an environment cold enough to generate breath visible on screen, which was where ICS’ air-cooled rental chillers came into their own.

As the cold weather sets in for real and shoppers start to feel the effects, our Winter Warmers feature urges supermarkets, co-ops and convenience store chains to stay stocked with a broad range of winter remedies, including RB’s cold treatments and Litozin+ natural joint care products from Axellus.

People go to town on fearsome fancy dress for Halloween but there’s nothing for retailers to be scared of, with Britain’s third biggest sales occasion behind Christmas and Easter.

Finally, we continue to enjoy Big Nights In whatever the economy is doing. Hot, Quick and Tasty is the focus for young male adults, led by Rustlers, now firmly in the top 100 grocery brands: Vegesentials, a ground breaking raw fruit and vegetable drink brand, is set to help make Big Nights In healthier: and as it gets colder, we can count on curry to warm things up.

Have a good month.
