Lactalis McLelland is celebrating the Scottish heritage of its Galloway®, Orkney® and Seriously® brands by rolling out limited edition St Andrew’s Day packaging in honour of this landmark date (30 November 2019). The special packaging is expected to boost sales of the brands, which are all produced in Scotland, in the lead up to St Andrew’s Day and the festive period.

The special packs feature an iconic tartan background with the familiar blue and white Scottish Saltire featured in a heart shape on the front. This St Andrew’s Day makeover will run across five products – Galloway Mature (350g)Galloway Medium (350g)Seriously Extra Mature Red (350g), Orkney Mature White (200g) and Orkney Mature Red (200g).

Mike Chatters, Sales Director for Lactalis McLelland, said: “Our brands’ Scottish heritage is very important, and we envisage that our new packaging will not only champion their provenance, but also help retailers create patriotic excitement for consumers looking to celebrate St Andrew’s Day.”

Galloway and Seriously feature in the top 10 and top 20 Scottish brands¹ respectively, while Orkney is also expected to go up the listings after being supported with a multi-channel marketing campaign throughout the summer and autumn.

All three brands are produced in Scotland, with Seriously being produced, cut and packed at Lactalis McLelland’s creamery in Stranraer in South West Scotland. Galloway, which is also produced in Stranraer, is made using 100% Scottish milk. Orkney cheddar is locally produced with milk from the Orkney Isles and has Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status. Crafted using a dry stir method and hand-salted, Orkney cheddar is naturally matured in wooden boxes which delivers a slower maturation than most cheddars. The cheddar-making tradition has been passed down from generation to generation and production is now managed by 17 Scottish dairy farming families.

Galloway Mature (350g) and Galloway Medium (350g) have an RRP of £3.20, Seriously Extra Mature Red (350g) has an RRP of £3.50 and Orkney Mature White (200g) and Orkney Mature Red (200g) both have an RRP of £2.29.
