s7000010Nationwide fencing company Darfen turn recycled plastic carriers into eco friendly fencing for construction of new Waitrose warehouse.

During construction of a new chilled Warehouse in Bracknell, leading supermarket chain Waitrose has demonstrated a commitment to the environment by recycling their own plastic carriers into construction site fencing. The construction site fencing known as Ecohoard RE-Plas is one of the first of its kind in the UK and has been brought to the market by nationwide fencing company Darfen Hoardings.  It is made from recycled plastic waste products like carry bags and milk bottles. It can be re-used multiple times, and after its product life, it is 100% recyclable, turning back into another hoarding board.

The hoarding not only helps the construction industry to be greener, but is also a great advertising tool. Waitrose have been able to advertise their range of products that will be available in their stores using laminated banners; they have also used the hoarding as a tool to display important marketing messages.

Steve Nicholson, Product Manager at Darfen Hoardings said: “In order to comply with HSE regulations all construction sites need some form of temporary site fencing and the new Ecohoard Re-Plas system is not only a greener alternative but it is also a great way to brand”

Ecohoard RE-Plas is part of the Darfen range of eco friendly hoarding products. Darfen also offer eco friendly timber hoarding and graphics hoarding; whereby graphics are printed directly onto the site hoarding.

The project is hoping to achieve BREEAM certification. BREEAM is an environmental assessment method which sets the standards for best practice in sustainable design. Steve went onto say said “Ecohoard RE-Plas is helping to improve the image of construction and we are pleased to have helped Waitrose in their efforts to be environmentally responsible”.

Darfen Hoardings also offer a steel hoarding system which is also recyclable and like the Ecohoard range of products it is also suitable for construction site perimeters, temporary sports ground enclosures, supermarket refurbishments, shopping centres,  music festivals and other events.
