As the leading badges and business print specialist for events, it came as no surprise that BIG was asked to produce and supply name cards for NFL staff, guests, VIPS and members attending NFL House, an exclusive drop-in hospitality center at this year’s Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

SportsMark, the global sports event management company, managed creative, production and operations for NFL House, which operated from Thursday through Sunday of Super Bowl week. SportsMark’s London office is focused on similar corporate hospitality programmes in the run up to this year’s centre-stage sporting calendar.

The clash at Super Bowl XLVI reached a total audience of 166.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched show in U.S. television history. The Nielsen Co. estimated that an average of 111.3 million people watched the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots. The game also topped the previous record of 162.9 million total viewers set in 2011 and marks the fifth consecutive record-setting total audience for the Super Bowl.

Tim Smith, General Manager at BIG commented, “Supplying the name cards for this year’s inaugural NFL House places us firmly in the global sporting events and entertainment arena.  BIG badges are already a fixture here in the UK with sports, events and conferences, and now, we have just had our debut on the world sporting stage.”

And it was a record operation in more ways than one. Following the successful delivery of BIG sample name cards, BIG then produced a world class performance to manufacture and supply the badges within a very short timeline of two weeks.

The requirements were very specific, focusing on new technologies such as Mifare contactless memory smart cards/proximity cards and quality litho printing onto plastic cards. The branded image on the cards required exacting detail, which BIG were confident they could deliver. The branded smart name cards were personalised and set to provide dated access to different areas within the complex.

Mark Alderman, BIG’s manufacturing manager commented, “We were never in any doubt about our ability to deliver on time, well in budget and on spec.  Our only questions were those concerning which NFL team we were supporting on the day!”

The 11,000 square foot facility in Ipswich processes more than two million name badges and 13 million business cards each year for companies of all sizes and across industries. The quality-based systems and processes in the manufacture of BIG badges, lanyards, accessories and business cards set the company apart, making them leaders both in the UK and in Europe.

The BIG investment in innovation and technology is ongoing and the company is constantly upgrading and adding value to their products and services. The BIG product range includes print material such as event and conference material and business cards; smart cards, permanent employee ID name badges for customer facing staff, and professional, re-usable name badges, wallets, lanyards and wrist-bands and accessories for festivals, events, conferences and sport activities.
