All Yorkshire Crisps and Yorkshire Popcorn produced by the Sheffieldbased Yorkshire Crisp Company now have accreditation from SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval).

SALSA is a food safety standard for small and micro businesses based in the UK and Channel Islands and demonstrates that The Yorkshire Crisp Company is able to produce safe and legal food and is committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard. It is the leading food safety certification for the UK’s small food and drink producers and is a joint venture between four major UK food trade associations: The British Retail Consortium (BRC), The British Hospitality Association (BHA), The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) and The National Farmers Union (NFU).

The aim of SALSA is to provide, first and foremost, safe food, via implementing best practices and controls that produce food that is consistently safe. It also aims to provide affordable and constructive support for its members to help their businesses grow, along with practical advice and guidance, working with them as a team.

Said Tim Wheatley of The Yorkshire Crisp Company: “It is important for us as a producer to be able to demonstrate to buyers that we operate to exceed the minimum recognised and accepted industry standards. We hope the accreditation will open up opportunities to secure new contracts and grow the business further.”

The Yorkshire Crisp Company produces a range of 10 flavours of gourmet crisps available in 100g drums, 40g single bags and 150g sharing bags (selected flavours). It has also introduced Yorkshire Popcorn in three luxury toffeecoated varieties as well as three traditional options.
