RH Amar, the UK’s leading fine food importer and distributor, is looking forward to another successful year for Monini – Italy’s leading Extra Virgin Olive Oil brand – after securing a fruitful end to 2015 with the brand’s first national listing.
Adding to the brand’s successful introduction to the wholesale sector across retail and foodservice earlier in the year, interest in Monini – Italy’s No. 1 brand of Extra Virgin Olive oil market with its Classico extra virgin olive oil* – rocketed following its introduction to Ocado shoppers in December, accompanied by a £1 off introductory offer across the brand’s three leading variants:
Monini Classico Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from olives picked at the right maturation grade and is perfect for use in homemade salad dressings, drizzling over pasta dishes or as a dip for bread.
Monini Mild and Light Olive Oil has a very gentle and mild taste and is perfect for all types of frying, roasting and baking.
Monini Anfora Olive Oil is versatile and suitable for all types of cooking, including sautéing, grilling and roasting.
Each oil is available in 500ml and 1 litre versions (RSP: £3.99 and £6.99 respectively) and comes with an authentic seal of approval from the Monini family, who have been famous for selling olive oil in Italy across three generations.
“Monini’s arrival in Ocado has been a great opportunity for the brand to secure a loyal following with savvy shoppers who are keen to try some of the finest and most popular olive oils from Italy,” explains Anne-Marie Cannon, Brand Manager at RH Amar, “and builds on the traction that we are already building for the brand across the wholesale channel for both retail and foodservice.
“We believe there is a huge opportunity in the UK for an authentic range of top quality olive oils from Italy, especially oils that come from a producer with a huge global reputation like Monini.”
Monini, which has its headquarters in Spoleto, Umbria – ‘the green heart of Italy’ – is still a family-owned company, and is targeting the UK on the back of a successful international sales programme that has led to Monini becoming a favourite choice on olive oil fixtures in more than 60 countries worldwide.
The company prides itself on the careful selection and quality of the olives that go into each and every one of its oils, while MD Zefferino Monini – grandson of the company’s founder of the same name – is responsible for personally selecting each oil and final blend.
Each year, Monini conducts no fewer than 17,000 chemical tests on its oils to ensure the highest quality of each and every oil it produces, and 8,000 tastings – a third of which are conducted by Zefferino himself.
“We are delighted to be working with such a fantastic producer and are excited to helping Monini to develop and build its brand in the UK,” adds Cannon.
