nano-dump-bin-s2.jpgPupils in local schools all over the country have been enjoying a new drink in their canteens and at the same time doing their bit for the environment thanks to an innovative new scheme from Welsh soft drinks company Radnor Hills. The new drinks are Aqua 50, a completely natural blend of juice and sparkling spring water with no added preservatives, sugar or sweeteners.

All participating schools are supplied with a free recycle dumpbin branded with the ‘drink it and bin it’ Aqua 50 branding to encourage pupils to collect their empty PET drinks bottles for recycling.

The recycling concept is really strong. Aqua 50 bottle caps are designed to be removed in one piece from the bottle when opening, and by also removing the paper label to check if they have won a prize students are again improving the recyclability of the bottle. This is just one of the schemes which Radnor Hills as a company have devised to help reduce any negative environmental impact of its business.

But that’s not all. When they buy a bottle of the new Aqua 50 drink pupils can participate in a short pop quiz and have a chance of winning one of 5000 rocking prizes, including Ipod® Nano™s and Electric Guitar and amps, in one of the monthly ‘Aqua 50 Sounds Good to me’  prize draws being held once a month from April till August.

“Initial response to the promotion has been really promising, and sales of the new products are good. We have been taste testing Aqua 50 in schools all over the country and the comments from pupils have been really encouraging. Within two weeks of the launch of the promotion, which runs till the end of July, winning prize tickets started to fly in. Our first main prize draw is due on 1st April,” Said Penny Butler, Head of Sales for Radnor Hills. “We believe we are the first soft drinks company in UK to run this type of promotion and we have had a really positive response from pupils and their schools. We are really pleased to be backing up the ‘care for your environment’ message which is being taught in schools nationwide, and at the same time have introduced a truly natural school meals compliant soft drink which the customer actually enjoys drinking!”
