  • The blonde liqueur wasn’t the only IWSC award success for the supermarket, with a further 9 medals, consisting of Silver and Bronze wins, also.

Asda’s Extra Special Blonde Chocolate Cream Liqueur, 70cl, took Gold at the recent IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) Spirits 2023 Competition* with an impressive score of 97 out of 100.

The premium own label liqueur, which costs just £8.00, combines Caribbean rum and double cream, made with real Madagascan vanilla, white chocolate and caramel flavours – a fantastic quality, value and award-winning bottle for its bargain price tag.

Prior to the prestigious award win, Asda shoppers have taken to social media to share their praise for the bargain booze with comments such as; “quite possibly the nicest thing going. By far better than Baileys” and “Yummy! Like melted caramac chocolate.” Others have opted to add the tasty tipple to their hot chocolates – making for an indulgent, after-dinner treat!

Official tasting notes from the IWSC state that the brilliantly priced drink boasts: “Pronounced notes of milk chocolate, caramel and brown sugar. The palate is creamy and bold with a hit of butterscotch flavours midway, leading to a velvet finish.”

The supermarket also sells an Extra Special Chocolate Orange liqueur (another new launch for late 2022) which combines a velvety smooth blend of double cream and triple distilled vodka with zesty Seville orange and mellow chocolate. The orange flavoured bottle also succeeded in the competition, taking home a silver medal and scoring a brilliant 93 out of 100.

The rich, decadent and luxurious liqueurs – with Good Housekeeping accreditation from Christmas 2022 – are best served with ice and priced at just £8.00 each.

Shoppers can pick up a bottle of the award-winning liqueurs, as well as other IWSC favourites, at Asda, instore or online at  www.asda.com.
