A well-known destination store in the heart of Salford, One Stop on Grecian Street, has taken a significant step towards enhancing community safety by installing a life-saving defibrillator outside their store. The new addition comes as a testament to Franchisee Priyesh Ramji Vekaria’s commitment to the local community, driven by a ten-year background in emergency services as a police officer.
Priyesh firmly believes that accidents and emergencies can happen to anyone, making it crucial to have accessible life-saving equipment that can be utilised without prior training or knowledge.
“For a long time, adding a defibrillator has been on my list of things to do.” shared Priyesh, the owner of the One Stop franchise store. “I wanted to ensure that anyone in need could use it immediately, regardless of their familiarity with such devices. It’s a way of giving back to the community wholeheartedly and offering long-term support.”
Priyesh faced various obstacles while pursuing this endeavour, with the cost of a defibrillator being a significant concern. However, he connected with Claire Axon from Minutes Matter – a charity who distribute defibrillators far and wide, making them accessible to all.
Claire’s guidance proved invaluable and together they identified the Heart Sign Samaritan Pad 360p Defibrillator as the ideal choice within Priyesh’s budget. With the remaining money from the budget, Priyesh contributed £500 directly to Minutes Matter to support their mission.
Looking towards the future, Priyesh has ambitious plans to fund a kit to keep within his personal vehicle, ensuring he can offer emergency assistance when he’s on the road! Important charities such as Minutes Matter deserve the support of entrepreneurs and One Stop are proud to have Priyesh represent them and be so involved.
