One Stop marked their 50th anniversary at the end of 2025 and as part of the retailer’s celebrations, they awarded £500 grants to a selection of nominated local community groups, with the groups receiving their grants this Spring.
The groups – who truly make a difference to many lives – were selected through a public nomination form on One Stop’s dedicated 50th birthday online landing page. Those who voted had their chance to highlight why their chosen-nominated community group deserved recognition.
“These groups are the heartbeat of their communities, and being able to give something back to them as part of our 50th anniversary has been truly special.” expressed Jack Taylor, Community and Partnerships Manager at One Stop.
In total, One Stop received over 7,000 nominations from the public, which reflects how highly the retailer’s customers want to help make a difference in their local communities.
Rainbow Baby Bank, who are based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire are one of the lucky community groups who received a £500 grant – with nominations from 100 people! The charity supports low-income families and are committed to ensuring every baby has a safe space to sleep.
The group have said they will use the funding to invest in moses basket mattresses and bedding to help support families who are facing significant hardship. Rainbow Baby Bank are passionate about ensuring that safe-sleeping guidance can be accessible with the right essentials, to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and the dangers associated with co-sleeping.
Sussex-based group, Bobby’s Big Heart, are another group who received the £500 grant. Tackling food poverty by providing food parcels to those who need it most, the money will be used to create more food parcels; caring for those who need a little extra support.
Jack continues: “Our customers didn’t just nominate a group — they shared their experiences, expressed their gratitude and highlighted moments in which their nominated group has made a real difference to the people within their communities. We’re incredibly proud to be playing a small part in helping them continue the amazing work they do.”
Gosport and Fareham MS Group will use their grant to continue to support vulnerable people living with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) – a condition that affects the brain and/or spinal cord. The group provides a warm space during the winter months so those who they support can meet and socialise, and take part in exercise classes, supporting with the life-changing illness.
Other community groups who received the grant include local performing arts classes, scout groups, children’s sports groups, domestic violence charities and SEN spaces and support groups.
