A multi temperature supply specialist, Oakland International supplies UK and Irish retail, discount, convenience and wholesale markets from their UK and Ireland facilities with the Corby facility scheduled to open within weeks to support its continual growth.

The site at Eismann Way, is currently 5,200 m2 with the ability to be extended to a 7,900 m2 (55,000 to 85,000 sq ft) footprint accommodating circa 8,000 pallets with a designated contract packing facility extending their forever growing value added services.

This is a major strategic investment by Oakland and since October 2016 the site has undergone a £1.5m refurbishment programme that has included new energy supplies, energy efficient LED sensor lighting, new energy-efficient refrigeration system, new racking, bay doors / dock leveler and scissor lift, barrier and security systems together with an office design that encourages a one-team culture. The final external works including cladding refurbishment will be completed during the Spring when the weather breaks.

Barry Davies, Managing Director commented: “Following our research and productive meetings with Corby Council and the Northants Chamber of Commerce, we were confident that we had made the right decision. As a family business, Oakland endeavor to select supplier/contractor partners within its local operating area which has been demonstrated with two new key partners appointed locally within Corby and the remainder within Northamptonshire and the Midlands.”

Rob Vizmn of Milex Engineering, Corby supplying all 14 Bay Doors and Dock Leveler systems commented: “We are really pleased to hear that the well-known ‘Corby Chilled’ site was going to be occupied bringing new jobs to the town. It was also encouraging that Oakland live by their values, as we were one of the local beneficiaries to be awarded not only the installation business (six figure sum) but also the ongoing preventative maintenance programme.”

Lee Wright of Interkey Fabrications, Corby providing maintenance/refurbishment services commented: “At a time when there is so much uncertainty worldwide and locally, it is refreshing to see that an award-winning business like Oakland are investing locally, and recognize the importance of partnerships that can make a difference.”

Paul Fagan of Nene Storage Equipment, Northants commented: “When asked to get involved in a new project at Corby by Oakland, we were pleased to offer our design and racking implementation services. Our brief was to supply a simple yet effective racking solution that could utilise existing material handling equipment from Oakland’s Redditch site yet take advantage of the 14m height and scope that the new Corby Development could offer.

“Oakland International are a company who value the delivery of quality warehousing, packing and logistics that demonstrate sustainability within our environment and as such our cooperation with them on the Corby Development has greatly increased our knowledge of the food chain supply allowing both sides to input constructive and pro-active design into the first and all other phases of the warehouse layout.

“Nene Storage Equipment know that Oakland International will be a success story in Corby as they expand further onwards and upwards from this latest Northamptonshire development.”

Dean Attwell, CEO and Co- Founder of Oakland International in 1998 commented: “We are really excited to have made this investment supporting our strategic growth plan. I am also looking forward for the new team to engage within the community, and the Oakland Foundation (opened by her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in 2013) with its primary focus through activities relating to Health, Nutrition and Sport to support local children that are disadvantaged or suffering financial hardship.”

Following the opening of the site in March, Dean himself is off to the North Pole in aid of charity during the month of April.
