Sainsbury’s Carshalton Green Wrythe Lane Local invited customers in Sutton to sample their new store for the first time today. Conveniently located on the popular shopping parade on the southern end of Green Wrythe Lane, the 2,842 sq. ft. store will serve and help customers between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

Sainsbury’s is committed to making eating well affordable and tasty and the retailer’s newest Local store will stock a delicious range of great value, high quality branded and own brand favourites. Customers will have the chance to sample Sainsbury’s latest convenience range, from fresh fruit and veg, healthy snacks and food-to-go to sweet, savoury and frozen staples. They will also be able to choose from a delicious selection of freshly baked bread and pastries every day, as well as pick up Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing products ordered online via the instore Click and Collect service.

Formerly a Nisa Extra, Sainsbury’s welcomed the opportunity to work with store manager John Patel and his family to take the reins as they made the decision to retire from running the store after over twenty years. Members of the local community including John, along with Sara Walsh from food donation charity The Felix Project, joined colleagues this morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the store as a brand-new Sainsbury’s.

Sainsbury’s is committed to supporting the communities it serves and as part of the store’s transformation, over £20,000 of stock from the previous store has already been donated to a range of local and nationwide causes including West Thornton Primary School, Company Shop and FareShare. The store has also partnered with Sutton Night Watch and will work with the charity to continue redistributing surplus food to those who need it most.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re very grateful to have been given the chance to build on the great work that John and his family have done in Carshalton. We look forward to continuing to serve the local community in the form of a fantastic new Sainsbury’s Local. I can’t wait to hear what our customers think.”

Louise Cooke, Sainsbury’s Carshalton Green Wrythe Lane Local Store Manager, said: “I’m really looking forward to playing a part in the community along with my new team. From brilliant service to great quality Sainsbury’s products, I think our customers will love what we have to offer.”
