Squeaky Bean is expanding its core range with the launch of its first-to-market Ready to Eat BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds.

The launch responds to growing demand for high-protein foods that fit easily into busy lifestyles, with 68% of plant-based shoppers saying they would purchase a plant-based pulled pork product {1}.

Packed with 30g of protein per pack, the BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds offer a versatile solution for consumers looking for convenient meal options without compromising on taste.

Squeaky Bean BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds (120g, RRP £3.40) will be available in Sainsbury’s from 16th September 2026.

Made from wheat protein and marinated in a rich, smoky BBQ seasoning, the BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds have been developed to recreate the tender texture and pull-apart bite of traditional pulled pork. Ready to enjoy cold or heated, they can be added to bao buns, wraps, rice bowls, loaded fries and salads, offering a versatile plant-based option for a range of meal occasions.

The new product marks an exciting expansion into a new protein type for Squeaky Bean and follows the success of core range favourites, including NYC Style Pastrami Slices, Tuna Style Flakes and Chargrilled Cajun Style Mini Fillets. Together, Squeaky Bean’s core range is outperforming the market by +22% in value sales over the latest 12 weeks {2}.

Becky Youseman, Head of Plant Based Marketing at The Compleat Food Group, home to Squeaky Bean, said: “Consumers are increasingly looking for convenient ways to add more protein to their diets without compromising on taste. With 30g of protein per pack and the flexibility to enjoy them straight from pack or heated as part of a meal, our BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds make it easier than ever.

“As another category-first innovation, our BBQ Pulled Pork Style Shreds recreate the taste, texture and eating experience of pulled pork, while offering consumers a convenient protein-packed alternative. Combined with the strong performance of our core range, it’s another example of how Squeaky Bean is continuing to push the category forward with products that deliver on both convenience and great taste.”
