Premier Foods is adding a brand new variant to its range of exceedingly good cakes, with the launch of Mr Kipling Unicorn Slices. Available in ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, the magical slices are available in a pack of six, with an MRSP of £1.75.
The fairy-tale cake features a delicious sponge, filled with a smooth vanilla mallow. Each slice is topped with a vanilla flavoured purple layer and a yellow icing drizzle in the style of a unicorn horn.
Karmel Maletta, Innovation controller at Premier Foods, comments: “The trend for mythical unicorns shows absolutely no sign of slowing down; appearing on everything from slippers to iPhone cases. More than 7.8m unicorn conversations appear on Instagram , and as the UK’s leading cake brand it made perfect sense to explode this trend into the bakery category.”
Mr Kipling Unicorn Slices are currently selling at an average rate of 12,000 units a day.
