The Millbrook Dairy Company – which has seen extraordinary success in its first four years’ trading – has launched a new subsidiary company as part of its ambitious expansion plans.

Based in Limburg in the Netherlands, Millbrook Dairy Europe BV will allow the business to expand its offering of prime quality cheese and butter products into new territories across Europe.

Heading Millbrook Dairy Europe BV is Rik Hanssen, who has been appointed Managing Director, and brings a wealth of commercial and dairy experience to the team. Formally with Numidia BV, Rik, who will be based in the Netherlands, will be engaging with the industry, responding to customer need, and promoting Millbrook Dairy’s growing portfolio of brands.

Rik commented:

“As the Managing Director of our first subsidiary I feel privileged with the trust invested in me and am very much looking forward to forging new relationships, seeking new opportunities and growing the Millbrook Dairy business further”.

Millbrook Dairy, which was founded in 2019 by respected dairy industry experts, David Evans and Kevin Beer, supplies a diverse range of British and Irish cheese and butter to growing UK markets as well as an international customer base in USA, China, Canada and South America and a European customer and supply base including the Netherlands.

Since its launch in 2019 the business has sold over 21000mt of cheese and butter, exceeding forecast tonnage more than threefold.  In 2021, Millbrook Dairy developed and launched its own-label product range, which is being specifically targeted to meet an uplift in demand for British products.

The company also launched a premium Scottish-led brand, namely ‘1057’ Scottish Extra Mature Cheddar into the UK, USA and Canadian market, which is receiving strong acclaim.

Kevin Beer, co-founder of Millbrook Dairy Company, said:

“We are delighted that Rik has joined us for the next stage of our exciting journey.  Our markets are continually growing across Europe, and this is natural progression for our business as we continue to see demand for dairy products increase.

“We are looking forward to the success that Rik will bring the business in the Netherlands and across Europe.”
