Iconic British brands Marmite and Marks & Spencer have collaborated on a tasty new lunchtime addition with the launch of a Cheddar Cheese and Marmite skillet sandwich.
Available from 12 June, the first-of-its-kind, Marmite-branded sandwich is expected to drive excitement within the food-to-go category and be a popular addition to Marks & Spencer’s growing vegetarian lunchtime fixture. The sandwich is competitively priced at £2.00.
The combination of Marmite and cheddar cheese is already a firm lunchtime staple for many, and the distinctive black Marmite packaging is expected to standout on shelf and broaden the flavour appeal to younger consumers.
The sandwich is made using soft vitamin-D-enriched white bread, a Marmite cream cheese spread, and Marks & Spencer’s popular British farmhouse cheddar cheese.
Melissa Wimble, UKI Licensing Manager, at Unilever, said: “We have a track record of creating disruptive and delicious Marmite products with Marks & Spencer, and we can’t wait for shoppers to take a bite of the new Cheddar Cheese and Marmite Skillet Sandwich. Marks & Spencer sandwiches rate number one on quality[1] and this already popular at home sandwich filling has been perfected to join the retailer’s lunchtime offering.
“Within the food to go category, innovation and stand out design are big drivers of trial, especially amongst younger consumers. We also know more people are looking for tasty and affordable vegetarian lunchtime options. As a result, we’re expecting this product to introduce a new generation to the simple joys of Marmite, at any time of day.”
Previous successful collaborations between Marmite and Marks & Spencer include a variety of Marmite-flavoured products such as Cheese Pinwheels, Butter, Cheese Slices, Cream Cheese and Hot Cross Buns.
The New Cheddar Cheese & Marmite Sandwich will be available in all Marks & Spencer stores nationwide from 12th June – priced at £2.00.
