The range of sweet treats is perfect for celebrations with friends and family and starts at £0.70

As thousands of people across the UK gather to celebrate Diwali from 24 October, Tesco is set to launch a range of sweet delicacies to help make gatherings even more enjoyable.

Inspired by traditional Indian sweets, known as Mithai, the range will be available from 8th September and features a mix of sharing platters, cupcakes and sweet treats. With products starting at £0.70, it is the first of a kind for the retailer.

Highlights of the range include the Finest Spiced Almonds & Filled Medjool Date Sharing Platter (£9.00). Specially designed to share at gatherings with family and friends it features succulent Medjool dates, hand filled with marzipan and chopped pistachios, and a selection of crunchy almonds infused with cinnamon & coconut, maple & chilli and honey & dried rose petals.

Also perfect for catering to bigger gatherings is the Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection (£7.00), packed with traditional flavours, including salt & pepper cashews, spiced almonds, roasted pistachios and succulent apricots and dates.

The range also boasts a trio of fudge, bound to impress anyone with a sweet tooth. Made by hand, the smooth Chai-Spiced Fudge (£2.50), is inspired by traditional Barfi and infused with a spiced-chai flavour. The indulgent Chocolate & Pistachio Fudge (£2.50), has two layers of rich fudge on top of one another, and the melt-in-the-mouth treat Coconut Ice with a hint of Cardamon (£2.50) is fragrant and sweet.

For children and adults alike, the Diwali Cupcakes are the perfect crowd pleaser, made to a vegan recipe and available in two flavours: vanilla sponge with a hidden raspberry centre, and rich chocolate sponge with a vanilla frosting, both £3.00.

Completing the range, the Diwali Milk Chocolate Lollies (£0.90), and the Diwali Milk Chocolate Coins (£0.70) are perfect little treats, packed with silky smooth chocolate.

Known as the festival of lights, Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture and is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists. Diwali celebrates peace and joy, with families and friends coming together to enjoy religious ceremonies, exchanging of gifts and feasting. This year is the first that Tesco has launched a dedicated product range.

The full range of Diwali products are available now online and in stores nationwide
