lorien-order-of-distinctionLorien Engineering Solutions has been awarded an Order Of Distinction from RoSPA for the third consecutive year.

Representatives from the Lichfield based project management and engineering design firm attended a ceremony in Birmingham where they were presented with the award, which recognises performance in Occupational Health & Safety in Construction.

The Order Of Distinction is presented to companies with at least 15 years’ of RoSPA Gold Medal performance standard. 2009 sees Lorien claim its third Distinction award, following another year of outstanding health and safety performance, and further development of its core safety system. The firm has an extensive client base in the food, brewing, drinks, and pharmaceutical sectors, in addition to waste and sustainable energy.

Lorien director Bill Treddenick said: “We are very proud to receive this award for the third time as it clearly demonstrates consistent performance and growth in this area.

“The award not only recognises a company’s health and safety record, but also how the business is developing its systems and people. In 2008/9 we have had a further four staff complete NEBOSH courses, with another six undertaking the ECITB site safety management course (resulting in IOSH Managing Safely certificates).

“We’re also very fortunate to work with clients who take safety seriously. They understand the need for competence, and present us with interesting and challenging projects. More than ever this year we are seeing clients request Lorien to take on CDM coordinator and principal contractor roles on projects,” he concluded.

RoSPA awards manager David Rawlins said: “Lorien has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business, and clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to improving performance in this crucial area.”
