Former Chairman of British Coffee Association and MD of Finlay Beverages joins Lincoln & York

Ian Bryson: Delivering sustainable growth in increasingly volatile markets

Ian Bryson has joined Lincoln & York as its new Managing Director. Ian joins L&Y having spent over 15 years working at some of the biggest and most influential players in the UK coffee market with a focus on delivering sustainable and profitable growth.

During his career, Ian has spent time with retail coffee brand Taylors of Harrogate, was Chairman of the British Coffee Association from 2017 to 2019 and more recently served as Managing Director for a nine-year period at Finlays Beverages. Now at L&Y, Ian will flex his expertise to support the company’s efforts to capitalise on a changing consumer landscape and maintain its reputation as one of the UKs leading coffee roasters.

Discussing his decision to move to L&Y, Ian said, “I am really excited to be joining Lincoln & York at this stage of the company’s development and I’m looking forward to working alongside James and the team, who for decades have paved the way for growth in the UK coffee market and continue to drive new opportunities for long-term success.”

Former MD and co-founder, James Sweeting, who becomes Executive Chair, will work closely with Ian on redefining the business’ proposition over the coming years and consolidating L&Y as a market leader both in the UK and across parts of Europe.

Commenting on Ian’s appointment, James said, “Lincoln & York has come a long way since Simon Herring and I started the business in 1994. During that time the global coffee market has changed enormously and coffee itself has become an important part of everyday life. We are delighted that Ian is joining us and we look forward to his blend of good humour, trade and management experience and skills in looking after and growing our company.”
