innocent drinks, Europe’s leading healthy drinks brand, has today announced that Nick Canney, will become the new CEO of innocent drinks when current CEO, Douglas Lamont, steps away from the business to take on a new role in the Autumn.

Canney joined innocent as UK&I Managing Director in 2015 and has been innocent’s European MD since 2019. During this time, he has helped grow the brand to be the biggest healthy drinks company in Europe, overseeing the expansion in key markets such as Germany, France and the UK. Prior to joining innocent, Canney held senior roles at Coca-Cola Enterprises GB, where he was VP sales and marketing, and Cadbury as UK grocery sales director.

Under Lamont’s leadership, innocent’s growth has been underpinned by a long-term commitment to sustainable and responsible business. Earlier this year, it became one of only a handful of businesses to achieve both a $1bn brand status and a B Corp score of over 100 points, one of the best-established independent measures of business performance, accountability and transparency.

Nick Canney, European MD, innocent, said: “innocent is truly a wonderful business, that has always focused on growing in the right way. I feel hugely privileged to take on this new role as we get ourselves ready for our next phase of growth.  I am committed to driving the business forward with purpose and people at the heart.”

Douglas Lamont, CEO, innocent, said: “As my fantastic journey at innocent comes to an end later this year, I couldn’t be more delighted that Nick is taking up the reigns from me and I know that he and the whole innocent team will continue to take the business from strength to strength in line with our purpose, vision and values”

Jennifer Mann, Senior Vice President and President of Global Ventures for The Coca-Cola Company who own innocent, said of the appointment: ‘I would like to thank Douglas for his immense contribution to innocent over the last 15 years, he has been instrumental in building a purpose led brand and business that has had incredible commercial success and I wish him well in his next adventure.  In his seven years at innocent, Nick has demonstrated not only his commercial and people leadership capabilities but his commitment to the purpose, vision and values of the company.  Nick will provide great continuity for the business as it enters its next phase of growth and looks to expand into new territories.’
