Beatson Clark’s commitment to health and safety has been recognised at the Health & Safety Glass Charter Annual Awards. The Rotherham glass container manufacturer scooped the prestigious Globe award for the ‘Best overall Health and Safety performance in the Industry,’ while Managing Director Alan Jones was named ‘Director of Health and Safety of the Year’.
The Glass Charter awards were introduced by the trade confederation, British Glass, to support Health and Safety Executive (HSE) initiatives and seek to reward those organisations and individuals that have proved to be exceptional, with special awards in a selection of categories. Judith Hackett, Chairman of the HSE, presented the awards to Beatson Clark on the night.

Beatson Clark received the Globe Award for delivering a consistent programme of health and safety improvements over several years. This has included adopting the OHSAS 18001 management standard, board level planning, fully trained safety teams in all areas and extensive operational safety training, including NEBOSH.

A night of celebration was sealed when Managing Director Alan Jones stepped up to take the award for Director of Health and Safety of the Year. To achieve this Alan had to demonstrate exceptional commitment to health and safety. Since joining Beatson Clark in 2001, Alan has seized every opportunity to reinforce the safety message, promoting health and safety management as everybody’s responsibility and scrutinising every incident so effective corrective actions and controls can be identified and implemented.
