Further reinforcing its position as a truly global business, leading UK designer and manufacturer of high performance Phantom metal detection systems, Fortress Technology has recently installed two of its super compact VERTEX metal detectors at Mana Y.A. Ltd, with orders for further units set to follow as part of the Israeli snackfood company’s on-going growth and investment plan.
Chosen for their ultra slim design, sensitivity levels and simplicity, both in line VERTEX metal detectors have been installed within an extremely narrow space at Mana’s production facility located in Beit Shemesh, where they are inspecting a variety of free flowing snack products prior to final packaging.
Uri Eisenstein, General Manager at Mana comments: “With Fortress fast becoming one of the leading providers of metal detectors into the Israeli market, the Phantom VERTEX was the model that most closely met our exacting production and quality standards.
Mr Eisenstein continues: “Despite the limited space, both systems were easy to install and worked virtually immediately with unparalleled detection performance. Although the machines are installed within a very narrow gap, the inspection levels have still been achievable, without false rejects.”
The VERTEX metal detector has been specially designed by Fortress for production environments where space is restricted and standard conveyor-based systems would not fit. Despite its slim stature, this flexible unit achieves the same high sensitivity levels as the company’s other Phantom-branded models, but within a drastically reduced frame.
Typically located between a multihead weigher and vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machine, product is gravity fed through the detector’s aperture before being sealed in a pouch by a bagger.
Using the latest Digital Signal Processing technology to inspect freefalling product at high speeds, the VERTEX is capable of detecting the smallest ferrous and non-ferrous metal contaminants including pieces of wire, shavings and swarf. It also incorporates all the intelligence, functionality plus user-friendly operation of the Fortress cutting-edge Phantom digital technology using a mountable remote control box.
It is perfect for metallised film applications, as raw product inspection yields higher sensitivity levels than the limited performance attainable when scanning the finished product within its metallic packaging. Constructed from aluminium, the VERTEX is available in standard sizes with the option of custom-designed support frames for ease of installation.
Established in the UK since 1999, Fortress Technology offers an extensive range of Phantom branded metal detection systems for a variety of industries including food, pharmaceutical, lumber, plastics and textiles. As well as supplying a series of standard metal detectors, the company can custom-build machines to suit non-typical applications.
The company’s robust Phantom metal detectors are exceptionally reliable yet easy to operate and maintain. Utilising the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology to ensure complete product integrity, the systems offer superior accuracy and speed. They are available in a wide range of aperture sizes with a selection of construction options including painted aluminium, stainless steel and BSH (IP69K certified).
Fortress is backed by skilled in-house design, technical and consultancy teams, a growing distributor network, and pan European customer service and support. The company offers high quality spare parts, flexible warranty packages, training, product testing and rental units.
