Offering great meat taste, low cost and  reduced waste

Dopsu is expanding its range of tasty, affordable frozen plant-based meat alternatives in response to customer demand for a greater choice of frozen meat alternatives that deliver on meaty taste. Two products – Dopsu No-Beef Balls and No-Beef Mince – will be available exclusively in ASDA alongside Dopsu No-Duck pieces, which is already part of the Dopsu range.

According to research by OnePoll, almost two-thirds (62%) of consumers are reducing or looking to cut back on the amount of animal protein they eat. However, it was found that classic meaty dishes like lasagne (40%) and spaghetti Bolognese (39%) remain some of the top dishes loved by Brits. Demand for more frozen food options, in particular, has also been behind the company’s decision to offer a wider range of products. Retail frozen food sales increased by £872m to £7bn a year, making it the second fastest food and drink category[1].

These new products – retailing from £2.50 – provide frozen meat-free alternatives to the nation’s most-popular dishes, whilst delivering on their familiar and much-loved taste. When first launched, Dopsu’s range immediately achieved unprecedented levels of satisfaction in independent consumer taste tests conducted by Wirral Sensory Services.[2].

Abigail Flynn, Brand Manager at Dopsu said: “It is clear that demand for meat alternatives is not waning as more and more consumers’ switch to a flexitarian diet.  The new listing in ASDA for the two additions to the Dopsu range demonstrates the relevance of our NPD as consumers seek plant-based alternatives to some of their favourite meat-based dishes.[3]

“Dopsu’s range cooks and tastes just like meat so that people can create their favourite meals without compromising on a meat lovers’ experience. It is affordable, convenient, and helps to reduce wastage for diners who are turning to foods that fit with a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Dopsu is supporting the brand with a strong marketing programme and has joined forces with brand ambassador and foodie, Fred Sirieix, to help communicate its multi-benefits through media, events and social promotion.

The Dopsu No-Beef Balls and No-Beef Mince (£2.50) and No-Duck Pieces (£3.00) are now available in-store and online at ASDA. The original range of No-Beef Pieces, No-Chicken Pieces, No-Duck Pieces, and No-Pork Pieces is available at other major retailers and on Amazon Fresh.
