April saw the unveiling of a poshed up Big Yum identity and the much anticipated arrival of its first of many new product launches, Chocolate Swerves.
What to the uninformed eye might appear to be moreish, sweet-themed treats, are as far as enthusiast founders are concerned, ‘Highly noshable pretzel knots donning some deliciously debonair, figure-hugging milk chocolate jackets with white chocolate pinstripes.’
According to co-founder, Pippa Witcher, ‘Although pretzels are a well established snack with the power to bring even an American President to his knees, we’ve always been a little frustrated by pretzels slightly sombre, Germanic image. From the outset our goal has been to show snack connoisseurs their softer, more sweet-natured side.’
Made from the finest kitchen cupboard ingredients, Chocolate Swerves will be making their retail debut in two magnificently melty formats, ‘sharing get-togethers’ (250g) & ‘me time munching’ (70g).
Already preliminary discussions with a number of the UK’s premium-leaning food retailers are at a very exciting stage and with the brand’s official unveiling having taken place at the Food & Drink Expo & South Bank Chocolate Festival in March, they’ll be lots of exciting new stockist news to announce in the very near future!
The last word should invariably go to the other half of the small but perfectly formed Big Yum squad, Aaron, who succinctly summarizes, ‘There’s absolutely nothing wrong with snacking, scoffing, noshing, picking, pecking or ‘on the hoof’ grazing on the firm, non-negotiable proviso that you ALWAYS treat your taste buds to something truly worthwhile.’ Approximate RSP’s 70g bags (£1.80) and 250g bags (£4.00)
The Big Yum’s new look, neon pink & black website arrived in time for the Big Yum’s exhibition debut at the Food & Drink Expo 21st – 24th March & Southbank Chocolate Fest 26th – 28th March.
