The world of food packaging can feel like a jungle, and there’s so much knowledge you need if you want to go in the right direction and ensure every project you undertake is an all-round success.
What new films are available for packaging? What’s the most suitable print for this job – gravure, flexo or digital? Why should you choose co-extrusion instead of a laminate film? What do you mean by the four P’s of packaging?
All these questions and many more have been asked by some of the 250 delegates who have attended packaging specialists National Flexible’s Film & Print Training Workshops over the last two years. And thanks to National Flexible’s technical experts, workshop attendees have gone home afterwards better informed and more confident about making packaging decisions.
This tried and tested programme is based on years of practical experience of films and print in the food packing industry, and therefore considers many of themost common problems encountered in the selection and use of flexible packaging.
Workshop content includes:
- Film selection and properties
- Laminations and co-extrusions, types and applications
- Secondary processes – thermoformed, retort, freezing, autoclave
- Print pre-press and origination
- Printing methods and machinery
- Packaging machinery types and uses
- Graphic and pack design
- Packaging and food waste reductions
The workshops are interactive, with 8-10 delegates attending per session. They remain free to National Flexible customers, with a minimal charge of £120 per person for other delegates to cover food and accommodation.
The feedback from those attending is invariably positive:
“I wanted to understand more about film and its manufacture and properties. It was a great day and I learnt loads” – Dr Oetker
“A thoroughly enjoyable and relevant workshop, we really learnt a lot” – Jordans Ryvita
