Asda’s in-store Covid vaccination centres have reached a major landmark this week with the vaccination of the 50,000th patient.

In February, Asda became the first supermarket to support the NHS vaccination programme using its in-store pharmacies and transforming the George clothing areas at three stores in the heart of local communities.

Each of the stores have worked in partnership with the NHS to provide in-store Covid vaccinations, with trained pharmacy colleagues delivering hundreds of jabs per day to patients who are eligible for the vaccine through the NHS.

With Asda’s vaccination centres being situated in some of the most diverse areas in the country; in Cape Hill – Birmingham, Watford and Old Kent Road in London, it is supporting the governments drive to make the vaccine accessible to BAME communities and encourage the uptake of the vaccine within those communities.

Faisal Tuddy, Asda Superintendent Pharmacist, said: ‘’We are incredibly proud of the fantastic efforts of our pharmacy teams in Watford, Birmingham and London for working so hard to help provide Covid-19 vaccinations and support the NHS. Our stores are located at the centre of the local communities and are easily accessible, so I would encourage everyone to get their jab as soon as they are able to as we continue to support the NHS in their successful vaccination roll out.’’
