America’s best-loved meat alternative, Tofurky, has arrived in the UK to bring its range of plant-based protein products to the nation’s three million  vegetarian and vegans, and the much larger “meat reducer” market.


Tofurky is launching a range of chilled vegan deli slices, sausages and tempeh products which will be available through natural health retailers nationwide.

The range will include Oven Roasted, Hickory Smoked and Smoked Ham-Style Deli Slices, all available in packs of eight versatile, GM free and soybean-based vegan slices. Also in the range will be ‘Artisan’ and ‘Gourmet’ sausages in Spinach Pesto, Chick’n & Apple, Italian and Kielbasa flavours and Smokey Maple Bacon Tempeh.

All products in the new Tofurky range are 100% vegan, free from genetic modification and offer a long shelf life without the use of potassium sorbate and processing solvents such as hexane-extracted soy isolates and concentrates. Instead, all Tofurky products are based on organic tofu and tempeh which have a long history of supporting health throughout the world, and offer a more environmentally responsible approach to the production of soy protein.

Tofurky was established in 1980, starting life as a small scale tempeh producer manufacturing for the local vegetarian and vegan market. Almost 35 years on, the company now manufactures more than 40 vegan products from its new LEED Platinum production plant in Hood River, Oregon, USA. It is still independent and family owned.

Created by long-time vegan and current company chairman Seth Tibbott, the brand had humble beginnings, but has maintained its commitment to promoting health and vitality of both communities and ecosystems through its food: “Back in 1980, it was difficult to live a wholly vegan lifestyle,” he said.
