allenhitachipxrinkjetIn a move aimed at further bolstering its range of contact and non-contact technologies, increasing competitive edge and boosting market share, Allen Coding Systems, a division of ITW and one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of high performance thermal transfer, hot foil and laser coding and marking equipment, has announced that it will sell and support Hitachi Continuous Ink Jet Printers with immediate effect.

As part of the new agreement, Allen Coding will be selling the complete range of Hitachi Continuous Ink Jet Printers specially designed for reliable and accurate reproduction of text, graphics and variable data such as product identification directly onto uneven or flexible substrates, including food, glass, plastics, metal and rubber. Developed for today’s exceptionally fast and challenging production environments, these systems provide high speed printing – up to 700 metres per minute – as well as superior print head technology for stable drop placement and print quality.

Adrian Shepherd, Managing Director at Allen Coding, comments: “We are delighted to welcome the Hitachi Continuous Ink Jet Printers to the Allen portfolio of market-leading coding and marking equipment. It underlines our commitment to maintaining competitive edge and our order book promises significant growth over the next year. Hitachi is one of a series of initiatives that will grow our range of non-contact systems in 2010.

“The new ink jets are a good fit with the Allen family in that they offer exceptional print quality, value for money, reliability, low emissions, reduced cost of ownership and convenience. We look forward to introducing Hitachi to a customer base used to our industry experience and unrivalled reputation.”

Allen Coding’s Continuous Ink Jet Printers include the flagship PXR Series specially designed by Hitachi to be exceptionally user friendly and easy to operate. Each PXR model features a TFT touch-screen control panel with full colour display making set up, reprogramming and fault finding both simple and intuitive. The controls are housed in an ergonomically designed stainless steel cabinet, which is sealed to IP55 standards and capable of handling harsh industrial environments and deep cleaning regimes.

Fully RoHS compliant, the PXR Series incorporate an economical and ecological ink delivery system that minimises vapour exposure and solvent loss to the atmosphere and is easily accessed for quick and easy service and maintenance. Daily cleaning is not required, with print heads being automatically cleaned at the end of each cycle for reliable start/stop performance.

There are five models in the PXR Series ranging from the general purpose PXR-D260/460W for marking various product shapes without mechanical adjustments up to the PXR-H450W for higher speed printing and applications requiring superior print  quality. Other units offer printing onto dark substrates using pigmented inks, micro fine character printing or large character printing for heavy industrial applications.

Allen Coding will also be offering Hitachi’s PB Series, which is similar in design to the PXR systems, apart from the large monochrome touch-screen control panel.

The company’s continuous ink jet, hot foil, thermal transfer and laser coding machines are ideally suited to overprinting directly onto a wide range of substrates for use within the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and chemical industries.

In addition, Allen Coding supplies machine spares and a wide range of high quality consumable products such as hot foil tape and type, thermal foil, and type holders. It is backed by pan European customer service and support.
