But Birmingham City manager Lee Clark wasn’t tempted to bolster his squad with the signing of the star performer, telling the Cowell double he hadn’t got enough talent.

Nicolites enlisted the help of Cowell look-a-like Andy Monk to raise the profile of its ‘Swaptober’ campaign throughout October. Swaptober encouraged smokers to switch from tobacco cigarettes to Nicolites’ electronic cigarettes.

Blues’ manager Lee Clark said: “For one minute I actually thought it was him! He certainly has some sort of x-factor.”

Nicolites is the UK’s biggest brand of electronic cigarettes, stocked by a large number of national retailers including Tesco, ASDA, Superdrug, Co-op, WH Smith, Martin McColl and over 10,000 independent pharmacies and convenience stores.
