FFP have created new dual-ovenable Estercook packaging for Young’s Seafood to launch their exciting new Gastro range of ‘restaurant quality’ frozen fish. The new packaging was the result of extensive trial and testing with Young’s, who have also invested in new machinery to pack these high quality, high profile new lines that allow consumers to take the pack from freezer to oven or microwave with minimum fuss and maximum taste.
FFP worked closely with Young’s throughout an extended development process, optimising the pack materials and pack sizes while the development team at Young’s were perfecting the delicious range, which now comprises three premium products, including cod loin with Sicilian lemon and herbs and salmon with chilli and ginger. Packs are cooked from frozen, placed directly from freezer to either oven or microwave. Moisture is retained in the pack and steam release is controlled so the result is perfect every time, the newly created flavours spreading throughout the fish to create a truly gastronomic experience in the home. FFP printed the packs with a sophisticated black and grey design that carries the ‘Gastro’ branding through the cooking process.
Estercook from FFP has transformed the ovenable packaging landscape, with solutions for fish, chicken and other proteins giving consumers the confidence to prepare food from raw ingredients and at the same time removing the need for them to come into direct contact with uncooked meat or fish. Estercook has been developed in partnership with DuPont Teijin Films, and features special heatseal polyester film to withstand the heat of a domestic oven, and inks and adhesives used to create the pack are subjected to a stringent testing regime to ensure that they are fully compliant with all national and international standards.
