During 2025, turnover of nutrition food business Whitworths grew to £173m continuing a run of several successive years of growth.
Operating profit before fair value adjustments of £7.4m (52 w/e 28 December 2024: £5.9m) has increased as a result of topline growth across all strategic customer partners driven by strong market performance and specific growth initiatives.
Profit before tax of £4.7m has reduced from £6.1m in 2024 driven by an adverse £3.0m movement of the fair value adjustments on derivatives offset by the top line growth.
Building on Health Leadership
During 2025, and in to 2026, Whitworths deepened its role as a national nutrition authority. Following on from the 2024 launch of its independent White Paper, this year the business launched its own paper ‘Gaps to Gains’ to over 30 MPs at a Westminster Event. A group consisting of colleagues and strategic retail & health partners then cycled the 200km+ journey to Downing Street to hand the paper over, along with the details of Whitworths petition to include Nuts in the 5-a-day guidelines. Whitworths continue to strengthen its relationship with the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA) as part of the company’s broader mission. These initiatives are aiming to reshape the national nutrition conversation to focus not only on reducing excess (salt, sugar, fat) but on addressing nutrient gaps in fibre, unsaturated fats, and micronutrients.
Innovation and Brand Expansion
The brand relaunch – positioning Whitworths as The Natural Nutrient Experts – continues to gather pace with branded sales growth and strong consumer engagement from new innovations such as Wondermix and 1DERS and the launch of Whitworths plant-based meat alternative Nutty Kitchen Supermince
A major focus for 2026 will be to continue to embed Nuts, Seeds & Dried Fruit into new meal occasions and shopper locations, through in store execution and further new product launches including Whitworths Power 10 breakfast toppers, Wok Tops, Not Guilty chocolate coated nuts & fruit and a pipeline of innovation for Nutty Kitchen.
Whitworths CEO, Mark Fairweather, said:
“2025 was another strong year for Whitworths, with turnover rising to £173m. Our partnerships with leading retailers remain our bedrock, while our brand is proving it can stretch into new occasions and connect with a younger, health-conscious audience. 2026 will be about building on this momentum – strengthening our partnerships, accelerating innovation, and continuing to lead the national conversation about the role of nutrition in preventing disease.”
