warburtons.jpgUnion Industries, manufacturers of the market leading Matadoor Range of Hi Speed doors, has seen the number of its Industrial Hi-Speed Roller Doors bought by Warburtons the Bakers, continue to rise. The family bakers, which has a number of sites across the country, has added a further four Union Industries’ Hi Speed Doors to its Wakefield bakery in West Yorkshire. In total there are now 25 Union doors operating at Warburtons’ bakeries at sites throughout the UK.

Union have been working with Warburtons since 1999 when the first Bulldoor was installed at the company’s site in Bolton.

The Tuscany Park Bakery at Wakefield Europort, Wakefield, is Warburtons’ flagship bakery and the largest in the UK. Union Industries had previously installed three Bulldoors and a Matadoor during the first stage of the build in 2005. The latest installation of another three Bulldoors and an additional Matadoor follows Warburton’s recent expansion of the bakery.

The doors have been specifically installed to segregate areas inside the Warburton’s bakeries, preventing heat loss between areas and the ingress of cold air from the outside world.

Warburton’s also uses some of the Bulldoors to operate in an Airlock configuration to create hygienic barriers to segregate different zones of processing and storage.

Manufactured as part of the Matadoor range of Hi Speed Roller Doors, the doors feature a unique ‘Crash-out’ facility, which ensures the doors remains operable if hit by a vehicle. Common to all doors in the Matadoor range it is supplied as standard with a fire retardant and anti-static door blade and no fewer than 12 safety devices.

Derek Ainsworth, Warburtons’ Group Buildings Manager, said: “We have an established a strong working relationship with Union Industries and its doors form an integral part of our building infrastructure and our management of hygiene and temperature control. The doors help maintain strict separation of areas, which is vital in food production and also help in reducing energy consumption by curbing heat loss.”

Paul Chable, Sales Engineer at Union Industries, said: “Our doors are proving to be of real benefit to Warburtons and the first door we installed almost ten years ago is, of course, still going strong. One of the key advantages of our Matadoor range is its ability to provide the effective separation of areas without restricting vehicle and personnel movement.

“The doors’ fast operating speeds also make them ideal for airlocks, which dramatically reduces the possibility of cross-contamination or fluctuations in room temperatures.”
