Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke industrial roller doors, has secured repeat business from a historic Hertfordshire bakery firm.
Leeds-based Union first supplied and installed two of its Bulldoors at Dorringtons in Sawbridgeworth in 2005.
Bosses at the bakery were so pleased with the quality and longevity of these external doors, which are on external openings to the finished goods area, that they looked no further than Union Industries for a door for its latest project.
This has involved the manufacture and installation of a Matadoor from the Union range that separates a packing area from a production area following the installation of new bread ovens.
The door has been tailormade for a tight space in a light wash down area and is operated by a mushroom push button and ceiling mounted pull cords.
Safety features also have been incorporated into the door, which will be used by bakery staff to push goods-laden trolleys from one area to another. This includes features to detect when the doorway is clear and to prevent closure when someone is going through it.
The Matadoor is for internal openings and is designed for high-volume traffic, such as forklifts, pallet trucks or personnel. It is made from heavy-duty material and components, which is why it is ideally suited for high-use internal doorways used by all kinds of traffic where great reliability is vital.
Both the Matadoor and Bulldoor have Union’s simple-yet-proven ‘Crash-out and Auto-Reset’ feature as standard, which reduces bottom beam damage and keeps downtime to a minimum.
Wilfred Dorrington, a director at the bakery, said: “We went straight to Union Industries when we needed a door for the new entrance. We did not even consider an alternative manufacturer as we were so impressed with how robust and long-lasting the Bulldoors they made and installed 16 years ago have been.
“Union’s aftersales care and annual checks and maintenance of the initial doors it supplied also have been second-to-none.
“Why go anywhere else when we know from experience that Union’s bespoke doors and service will stand the test of time?”
Richard Tarleton, technical sales engineer at Union, said: “It is a huge accolade that Dorringtons immediately came to us for this latest project because the two Bulldoors that were made and installed way back in 2005 are serving them well to this day.
“Our range of high-speed roller doors, which are made to clients’ individual requirements, are designed and engineered to be durable, robust and to operate effectively and efficiently in high-use areas.
“We worked closely with Donningtons to ensure we met their exacting specifications to fit an industrial door in a confined space.”
Dorringtons was founded by Ernest Dorrington more than 100 years ago and is now run by his granddaughter, Caroline Sharples, who is managing director.
Since it opened in 1919 in Sawbridgeworth, the business has grown to 15 shops in Hertfordshire, Essex, and Cambridgeshire plus six snack vans operating in Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford, Great Dunmow and Stansted.
Union Industries has clients in a wide range of sectors including food production, processing and packaging, supermarkets and distribution, chemicals and pharmaceutical, logistics and warehousing, recycling and waste management, and manufacturing.
