Nourish Hub is one of UKHarvest’s leading public-facing operations, feeding families, households and vulnerable people. The Hub’s focus is to reduce food poverty and social isolation in the area. Located in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, Nourish Hub offers daily lunches on a ‘donate as you are able’ basis, regular breakfast clubs, a monthly community supper and a range of educational offerings to adults and young people in West London, creating a lifeline to vulnerable people and a safe space for those who need it most.
UKHarvest’s ‘Our Hub, Your Voice’ report showcases the positive impacts that the community kitchen is having on the community. Through diligent assessment of what has taken place since launching in 2022, the research was focused on giving all users of the space and services a chance to give feedback on how the Nourish Hub is used, and how UKHarvest and Nourish Hub are meeting the needs of the community, using rescued food as the medium.
Between 18 March and 3 May 2024, UKHarvest conducted a comprehensive assessment of the social impact that is experienced by the residents and volunteers who engage with Nourish Hub and its services. “Nourish Hub belongs to everyone who walks through its doors.”
UKHarvest, Sussex based food rescue charity, is working with communities to reduce food waste across the production line, and within the home. Last year, UKHarvest rescued over 616 tonnes of surplus edible food which was used to feed those who need it most. Through Nourish Hub, UKHarvest’s London based community kitchen, the charity has conducted and released an insightful impact report, ‘Our Hub, Your Voice’ demonstrates the Hub’s role in alleviating food insecurity across the borough.

Key highlights from the report include:
- Improving access to healthy food: 70.1% of Nourish Hub visitors reported that their intake of nutritious food had increased since they started using Nourish Hub
- Easing financial pressure: 78.9% of Nourish Hub users reported that using the Hub had helped to ease existing financial challenges they were facing
- Increasing social connection: 82.5% of Nourish Hub users reported that through the Nourish Hub, they had met new people.
