Fine wine and good food is a French tradition and the iconic setting of The Kensington Roof Gardens recently hosted another highly successful edition of their acclaimed ‘Taste of France’ series of events. Promoted by the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in the UK, the event brought together 22 speciality French food producers who showcased a wide range of speciality produce. One would be hard pressed to find a better display of fine foods in one venue.

The day started with a conference on the British market for speciality and fine foods, followed by a dedicated food tasting. A broad range of products were exhibited from the following producers:

Algues de Bretagne is a specialist in edible seaweed and offers a wide range of nutritional products, including seaweed pearls.

Aquitaine Spécialités produces frozen Canelés, which are small pastries typical of the Bordeaux region.

Atlantique Développement Export assists three food-and-drink companies based in South-Western France in their export activities.

Biscuiterie de Provence is a family business that offers a range of original biscuits and pastries using Provençal ingredients.

Charbonneaux-Brabant is a family-owned business specialising in the manufacturing of vinegars and mustards, along with trading in oils and gherkins.

Charcuterie Bordelaise produces a wide range of traditional Bordeaux pork charcuterie that is made from meat reared in South-Western France.

Chocogil has specialised in the famous Bouchon de Chocolat au Marc de Champagne since the 1950s.

Chocolats Zugmeyer has perpetuated the family tradition of making quality chocolates. Chocolats Zugmeyer’s pride in the excellence of its production makes it one of the most reputable French chocolate manufacturers.

Comptoir du Cacao is a family-run artisan chocolate factory. It makes fine, single-origin chocolates from pure cocoa butter, and in unique flavours.

Macarons Gourmands is a young company that manufactures luxury frozen macaroons on the basis of both classic and novel recipes.

Moulin Jean-Marie Cornille (Moulin JMC) has been manufacturing top-quality olive oil for over four centuries. The mill produces three kinds of cooking oil, and is particularly well known for its speciality – a fruity black olive oil.

On Plante le Décor Ltd (OPLD) is a family-run company specialising in handmade flavoured sugars and salts, chocolates, confectionery and biscuits, as well as preserved meat, fish and vegetables.

Pat’Fondines is a young company manufacturing sweet and savoury cakes, pancakes, blinis and tarts that are all inspired by typical recipes from Brittany.

Première Pression Provence is a producer of high-quality olive oils and other authentic food products from Provence, such as savoury spreads and condiments.

Rochebillard & Blein is a family-run business based west of Lyon. The company works with local pork farmers to produce a large range of fine charcuterie.
